Probationary Teachers

Every probationary teacher will receive a written evaluation form based on the Professional Qualities & Responsibilities (PQR) at the middle and end of each school year

Probationary teachers are at the beginning stage of their career in Henrico County Public Schools. Classroom observation cycles will be used as part of the annual evaluation.

PROBATIONARY TEACHER TIMELINES AND PROCEDURES:

July1-September 30: The teacher will take a PQR online self-assessment to share with the supervisor.

September 15: The teacher will review and sign the PQR and AUP.

September 30: The teacher will take a PQR online self-assessment to share with the supervisor.

September 30: The teacher will complete the Planning Conference Form based on the PQR self-assessment. The teacher and supervisor will meet to review the self-assessment and the Planning Conference form to determine the observation focus.

December 15: The teacher and supervisor will hold at least two post-observation conferences by December 15 and the supervisor will complete a Mid-year Evaluation Form.

March 1: The teacher and supervisor will complete one additional post-observation conference by March 1 and the supervisor will complete Annual Evaluation report.
