Each year school divisions are required to report conduct incidents to the Department of Education for the most recent academic year. The report is incident based and after the data are received the incidents are reported at the school and divisions levels. Coding accuracy is important because of the need to accurately reflect the behaviors of students. Incidents are used for federal safe school designations, and are reported in multiple ways on the Virginia Department of Education website, including the school report cards and an information resource document that allows a longitudinal view of conduct incidents as well as comparisons across schools/divisions.
